The Dunham School has a thriving band program with our students receiving numerous accolades and awards at various festivals and music competitions throughout the state. They perform regularly for school events as well as community events. Performance is a key aspect of our program, with the Jazz Band in particular being invited to play with professional musicians in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and surrounding areas.
The Director of Band and Instrumental Music is responsible for all band activities including teaching band classes; directing concert band, jazz band, and pep band; and coordinating/leading performances at pep rallies, athletic events, and community events. Courses taught include: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced Band, and Jazz Band Honors.
The position requirements include:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Education or related field
3 or more years of teaching experience preferred
Jazz Band experience preferred
