The Winsor School is an independent girls' school for academically promising and motivated students in grades five through twelve. The School is currently seeking a qualified part-time music teacher for the 2018-19 school year. Main responsibilities include team-teaching and accompanying the 5th grade musical (fall semester), teaching a 7th grade piano elective class (spring semester), and serving as music director for the Upper School Spring Musical (February through May). Additional responsibilities include collaborating closely with Performing Arts faculty, designing age-appropriate lesson plans, integrating basic technology into the 7th grade piano elective, coaching vocalists, and accompanying musical rehearsals and productions. The successful candidate will have excellent piano and sight reading skills, experience teaching singing and serving as a music director for middle and high school productions, outstanding verbal and written communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents, and at least 3 years of successful teaching at the middle school and high school level. A willingness to collaborate, a commitment to diversity work, and an interest in using a variety of pedagogical approaches in classes and rehearsals are essential. A bachelor’s degree in music, music education, or a related field is required, and a masters degree is preferred.
