Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore, MD is currently accepting applications for the Assistant Band Director position for the upcoming school year. Calvert Hall is a private college preparatory high school servicing all male students, grades 9-12. In 2013, the Music Department was awarded the Gold Standard Music Credential from the Middles States Association of Colleges and Schools. Applicants should be highly motivated and able to assist the music department in continuing the legacy of exemplary music programs. The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in instrumental music and be certified or eligible for Maryland State Teacher certification.
Jazz Lab (beginning jazz ensemble)
Music Theory course entitled Fundamentals of Instrumental Music, where our freshmen instrumentalists are taught fundamentals of wind band performance, as it applies to their instrument and performing within an ensemble. This course will also include a greater exploration into basic music theory.
Possible general music classes
Strong Percussion performance and teaching experience preferred with experience teaching and developing all instrumentalists (woodwind, brass, strings)
Experience teaching and developing a jazz ensemble
Prior experience in the Marching Arts is preferred (Drum Corps or WGI)
Ability to work collaboratively within the Music Department
Ability to develop and implement teaching strategies/performance skills
