The Department of Music invites applicants for a Tenure-Track nine-month entry-level Assistant Professor in Music Theory. Successful candidates must have a doctorate degree (D.M.A. or Ph.D.) with a specialization in Music Theory with piano desired. Commitment in preparing students for a collaborative career in music is desirable.
Founded in 1925 by Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, XULA is Catholic and historically Black. Located in New Orleans, the mission of the University is to contribute to the promotion of a more just and humane society by preparing its students to assume roles of leadership and service in a global society.
Responsibilities include a full-time teaching load and departmental service including an Applied Instrument studio, teaching pedagogical classes in primary area, and teaching all lower and upper level theory courses. Other departmental duties include service on various departmental committees and University committees. Applicants should possess evidence of teaching excellence and an active scholarly agenda.
