I am happy to announce that the Anchorage School District is actively recruiting music educators for openings that we have for the 2019-20 school year.
Specifically, this posting is for two openings in Band: A High Schoo Band Teacher and an Elementary Band Teacher. The high school position is at one traditional high school of the eight public Anchorage High Schools and will include concert and jazz groups. In elementary Band, this instructor will travel to schools teaching beginning band. Each school receives three forty-five minute class times per week.
Anchorage is a very special place. We have 47,000 students, with eight high schools, eleven middle schools, and sixty elementary schools. We offer a full music program, with band, orchestra, choir, as well as classroom music twice per week through the fifth grade. All of this in a city with two salmon rivers running through it, 200 miles of hiking, biking, skiing trails, and just ten minutes away from the second largest national forest in the US.

Certification in Music Education is required with band emphasis.
Alaska Initial Certification is commonly offered if already certified in another state. Candidates accepted will take two classes in Alaska Cultural Studies and Alaska History in order to gain a five-year certification.
Driver's license, insurance and a vehicle.
