Job Description
Piano & More is seeking teachers who understand how to transfer their knowledge and talent to any age group while building a musical community amongst their students. Lessons are taught in-home and sometimes virtually, in case of COVID contact. Don't be weary of the driving aspect as we have developed a method to reduce driving times 5-15 mins in between locations with back-to-back lessons. APPLICANTS MUST BE LOCAL. Most students are located in Arlington, Vienna, Falls Church, Mclean, Great Falls, Reston, and Alexandria.
Teachers are initially hired as independent contractors. Once a teacher reaches a required number of teaching hours in one month, the teacher can elect to be hired as a FT (full-time) employee for the following month. Salary Teacher Employees are required, on an ongoing basis, to work 30 hours per week or 120 hours per month. This employee position was designed to provide FT benefits although working under 40 hours a week to provide amazing teachers with a well deserved worklife balance.
Salary Teachers Requirements:
- Lessons are usually taught 3-8pm on weekdays; weekends work as well but weekdays preferred.
- 30 hours a week or 120 hours a month
- Teach private weekly lessons (30, 45, and 60 minute lessons available)
- Reliable transportation to be able to travel to student's homes (routes are organized by the neighborhood so students are close-by
- Host Spring and Winter Recital, attend Open Mic/other community events when possible
- Send out monthly newsletters every month (examples will be given)
- Teacher will need to teach lessons virtually in case of COVID contact
- 1 year contract commitment- students need that reliability
- Piano education/proficiency
- Teaching experience, especially with elementary aged children
- Attend Staff Meetings and teacher brunches when scheduled
- Study P&M teaching model and able to implement with all students if required
- Someone that can teach multiple instruments (piano & voice for example) would be a plus!
BONUS: At the end of each school year, if an instructor has taught more than the required amount of lesson hours, the instructor will receive a bonus based upon a calculation of additional wages.
