We are looking for up to two Teachers of Music to join our K-8 community to be part of our fantastic learning community. DLS is one of the finest schools in Denver, and is well renowned for our outstanding academic results in multiple languages. Music is taught in English at DLS.

Essential Functions and Objectives

• Select music to build a music library for the school and ensure that the selections are varied to ensure the repertoire reflects the school’s value of cultural inclusivity.
• Provide or arrange for regular maintenance of musical instruments and equipment.
• Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement through Positive Behavior Intervention Support and Restorative Practices.
• Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rules of conduct and behavior assigned to students.
• Prepare educational course outlines, objectives and materials according to curriculum guidelines and Colorado Department of Education standards.
• Present subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
• Prepare, administer, assign and grade balanced assessments to evaluate student progress and report grades using school software.
• Prepare student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
• Communicate with caregivers, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems; and coordinate instructional efforts.

BA in Music or similar subject

A willingness to achieve appropriate CDE endorsement for teaching Music and/or an appropriate Music Teaching license befitting public education in Colorado
